Katie's own House

Katie and her husband Marty loved many things about their circa-1970s lake home, including the location on Wayzata Bay, the turn-of-the-century screen house, and views of sailing regattas. But, after living with a dark, outdated kitchen, no basement, not enough room for guests, and other challenges for nearly a decade, they finally decided to renovate the house. They commissioned Peterssen/Keller Architecture and McDonald Remodeling to reinvent the house as a light, airy, casually glamorous lake home. Working within the existing foundation, Katie and P/K designed the house with tall ceilings, beautifully-framed vistas, and plenty of room for entertaining. Each room is finished in Katie’s signature style with shiplap paneling, unique wallcoverings, colorful rugs, custom furniture, original art, and a mix of antiques and other treasures. The collaboration was so rewarding, Katie and her husband decided to feature the home on the AIA MN Homes by Architects Tour, September 16-17, 2017. As an added bonus, the screen house was featured in Boathouses of Lake Minnetonka, a beautiful new coffee table book about the lake.
